Solar panels donated by UNDP

As part of a rural development initiative, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) donated solar panels for installation in 40 towns across Sierra Leone. This project aimed to enhance access to sustainable energy, particularly in underserved rural communities where reliable electricity remains a major challenge. The effort reflects a broader commitment to environmental sustainability and inclusive infrastructure development.

The contract for implementing this critical infrastructure was awarded to Popoceepopo Sierra Leone Ltd, known for its engineering precision and dedication to national development. Leveraging its experience in large-scale civil works, Popoceepopo ensured the seamless integration of solar systems into diverse terrains and community layouts, helping light homes, health centers, and schools.

Throughout the project, the team faced challenges typical of large-scale deployments—including document control, technical adjustments, and coordination across multiple sites. By utilizing modern digital drawing solutions and streamlined project workflows, Popoceepopo minimized downtime, improved accuracy, and avoided the inefficiencies associated with outdated paper-based systems. This approach ensured timely delivery and adherence to UNDP’s quality standards.

The successful completion of this project not only brought light to rural towns but also highlighted the value of technology-driven construction and international collaboration. For Popoceepopo, it was a testament to their ability to execute complex, mission-driven projects that leave a lasting impact on communities across Sierra Leone.
